Exemplary Reading Award
An award designed to draw attention to outstanding reading/language programs in schools throughout North America; awards are given during the IRA Annual Convention. Procedures include the submission of an application form to the chairperson of the Exemplary Program Award committee, validated site visits by state exemplary reading committee members, and participation by winners at award ceremonies during IRA Annual Convention. Details are announced in the fall through MRA Newsletter and through IRA Division of Membership and Council Relations.

Celebrate Literacy Award
This award is designed to recognize a local individual, agency, or institution that has made a significant contribution to literacy. Local councils are invited to nominate individuals/agencies/institutuions for this prestigious award. MRA will present the Celebrate Literacy Award to the the recipient at the annual December conference.

Honor Council Award
This program is designed to help local councils plan effective programs, promote membership in both IRA and MRA, and ensure continuity in council organization and programming. Activities consist of seven required items and a choice of six optional items from a possible fourteen. Details and application forms are included in the Local Council President's Packet distributed annually in the spring.

Magnolia Award
The MRA award is presented to local councils that have accomplished the following: Achieved Honor Council status for the preceding year, sent three Council Officers to the MRA Leadership training provided by MRA, and provided the list of new Council Officers for the coming year by a May 1 deadline.
