Plan to join hundreds of educators from all over the state of Mississippi, December 6-9, 2009 for MRA 39th Annual Conference, Beau Rivage, Biloxi, MS. The conference theme: Read Around Mississippi: Celebrating Mississippi’s Authors through Reading, Writing, & Speaking will provide a pathway to activities that are centered around the content of the language arts framework in the areas of reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, research, and inquiry. Come and be prepared to explore, learn, relate, and connect. You will hear top speakers, share ideas, and select from conference sessions from a variety of strands. Come to MRA’s Annual Conference for ideas and inspirations that will benefit you and your students for years to come.

PROPOSALS: You’re invited to present at MRA’s Annual Conference. We are seeking quality proposals in all areas of reading, at ALL levels: PreK-12. Share you experience and expertise at one of the premier events to address the issues and concerns pertinent to the development and delivery of reading instruction. Tough economic times = greater need for well-trained specialists. Share your strategies, knowledge, creative ideas, best practices, and effective programs in support of reading education.
Proposals related to these topics are encouraged, but not limited to: Vocabulary Development, Comprehension, Family Literacy, How to Involve Parents, Language Arts Frameworks, Improving Reading Using Test Scores, The New Accountability System/Language Arts, Leadership Teams & Reading, Reading Excellence through the Arts, Questions Strategies in Reading, Teaching Reading Comprehension Strategies, Reading Assessment, The School Librarian & Reading, Universal Screener(s)-Reading, Differentiated Instruction, Response to Intervention, Motivating Struggling Readers, Inclusion, Teaching Reading to ELL and Gifted Students, Individualized Reading, Teaching Reading without Using the Basal, Shared and Guided Reading, Handwriting, The Writing Process, Reading Research, 5 Dimensions of Reading, Reader’s Theater, Teacher Mentoring, Storytelling, Poetry, Reading in the Middle School and High School, and the list goes on-and-on.
